2010 - Year of the Tiger - Handling Interview Rejection

Tuesday Mar 9

It's natural to take it personally when you don't get invited for an interview, especially when on paper you feel you are clearly a suitable candidate. As professional recruiters, we know that candidate selection is rarely based on logic, but more on a feeling that a certain person is the right candidate. Try not to take any rejection personally as 99% of the time it really is not.

A good tip is to always ask for feedback on what you can do to improve your application, especially adapting your CV/Cover letter to the role. However, to really improve your chances you need to know that preparation is the No 1 key in applying for any role.

Always conduct a full job needs analysis to find out what the publisher are really looking for in the role, only then can you really make your applicataion rellevant to the person recruiting. If you do this, you will double your chance of getting an interview.
